""I too was once a stranger here and can say that Keith and I had a warm welcome in the village. The most wonderful part of the work I do is being alongside people as God works in their lives. Seeing people grow and change and become more fulfilled in their whole life is a great privilege and joy and it is one of God's many blessings on me.The chance to work with adults and young people as they explore their faith in a changing world is both a challenge and an honour, and when I see their faith spilling over into their families; the community; the workplace, the neighbourhood and indeed into the world through our connections with Brazil, and through our work for global fair and just trade, then I am truly glad to be part of this church.May God bless us all richly as we continue to try to serve him faithfully in this place."

Maggy Ellison
Reader

In the 1970’s Maggy trained as a nurse at Westminster Hospital in London and then studied sociology and social administration at the University of Edinburgh . After a long and varied nursing career mostly spent working in acute hospital medicine and critical care, she currently works part-time as a cardiac nurse at York Hospital . She moved with the family to Stamford Bridge in 1990 and has worshipped at St John’s Church in the village since.

She was admitted as Reader and licensed to the Priest-in-charge of the Stamford Bridge Group, Rev Diane Westmoreland, at York Minster in 2006.

She completed the 4 year part-time Foundation Degree in Theology and Ministry at York St John University in 2007. Maggy is now training for ordained ministry in the Church of England on the Northern Ordination Course (soon to become the Yorkshire Ministry Course). Alongside her weekly NOC studies based at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield and her placements outside the parish, she continues to share in the life and ministry of the local churches.

“I'm greatly enjoying my ministry and gaining lots of useful experience for the future. I feel humbled and honoured to be helping to make God's love known in these villages.”
